Alan Jackson making his debut on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart at the top.  Billboard.com says the country star's latest release, The Bluegrass Album, is entering the list at number one with first-week sales of 22,000.

It's the first time Jackson has ever had an album on this chart.  The Bluegrass Album is starting its run at number three on the Country Albums chart behind Luke Bryan's "Crash My Party" and Justin Moore's "Off The Beaten Path."  The disc marks Jackson's 18th top five debut on the Country Albums list.

With The Bluegrass Album Jackson becomes the fourth country star to launch an album at number one on the Bluegrass Albums chart.  Merle Haggard was the first, accomplishing the feat in 2007 with The Bluegrass Sessions.  Patty Loveless' Mountain Soul 2 topped the Bluegrass chart in 2009, and Dierks Bentley's Up on the Ridge spent its first of 30 weeks at number one on the chart in June 2010.
